Javascript as a Functional Programming language

Wednesday, July 27, 2011, 6:30 PM

Javascript is a language of increasing maturity. In the current day it is far removed from what it was back in the 90’s. In 2011 Javascript is a language that can be and has been used for serious application development. Javascript is often thought of as a prototyped based object oriented language. However it can also be used as a very effective functional language.

Javascript can provides many of the language tools for functional programing. Javascript functions are full first class citizens. Allowing support for higher order functions and even monadic operations.

I will show how to use the functional side of Javascript for effective programming.
